How to become a Wimpy Witness or Die Trying
 by K. M. Kramer

Did you know that according to the Gallup Poll only 3 % of Christians ever share their Faith?  Pretty Grim Huh!  All of us want to be Witnesses for Christ, but most of us lack the drive and boldness necessary to go door to door pushing our faith on our neighbors.  The problem is,  many of us, ok maybe even you, are gulp  shhhhh don't say it too loud, "Closet Christians".

Are you a

Closet Christian?

Do your Friends, Co-Workers and Neighbors even know you're Christian?  Yikes if this is you it's time to DIE!   What, surely I didn't mean to say DIE!  Yes, DIE.  It's time to move on to becoming a Wimpy Witness or Die trying.  Yep, it's time to die to self and live for Christ.  That doesn't mean you need to go to the nearest street corner, hang a sign around your neck and scream Repent.  It does mean that you must stop being embarrassed by Jesus.  Are you ashamed of our Lord?  Remember, He did say if you are ashamed of Him before men He would be ashamed of you before His Father.  Or is it more that you are ashamed of being called a “Christian“.  In our culture today, that word is associated with a lot of flaky ideas, actions and people.  I know I'm ashamed of a lot that has been done in the name of Christ, but that does not mean that I hide who and what I am.  Take the next step out of the closet, die to self and move on up to:

Wimpy Witness:

Ah, the Wimpy Witness.  This was me not to long ago.  My then pre-teen son and I would sneak around leaving tracts everywhere.  In bathrooms at the local Walmart, restaurants, video arcades and even outside in parks and playgrounds.  Slowly we became more bold with our tracts until last summer when we reached the point of handing out hundreds of tracts at our small town Big Lake Festival.  We even did it face-to-face, no more sneaking around but actually looking someone in the eye and saying “Here take this“,  of course nobody refused taking a tract from my now 6ft tall 200lb 14 year old son with the deep commanding voice of a drill Sargent.  The point is, we had to start somewhere.

About the same time we started being sneaky tract leavers, my son also began wearing Christian T-shirts.  Everywhere he went, the message was there spred across his chest.  If someone would ask him about it, he would say “ask my Mom“.  He wasn't ready to speak one-on-one but wanted to at least point others in a direction to find the truth.  If you don't have a Mom that seems to always be there, then get some tracts or better yet have a business card made up with the plan of salvation on the back and the phone number and email address of someone that can be that “bold“ witness on the front.  Whenever someone asks about your Christian Gear, hand out the card and point them to the truth.  Wimpy, but often effective.
Not all of us are called to be Harvesters.  Some just plant the seed, others water, then along comes the harvester.  We all can have a PART in the process.  The key is to do something.  Find your place and begin to express and share this glorious salvation.

Soon you'll be ready to move on up to Splashy Saint.
