WINGS OF LOVE
by Joanne Lowe July 10, 2006
“But they that wait upon the Lord
shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles;
they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.”
Isaiah 40: 31
King James Version
Many years ago when I lived in Texas, my pastor said in a sermon “If you
want to fly higher than a kite, start bragging on Jesus”. I thought he
was crazy when he said this but I began to tell people that Jesus Loves
them. This verse tells us that if we will wait upon the Lord, He will
renew our strength. This does not mean for us to sit around waiting for
Him to do something for us. It means to serve Him. When I receive emails
that are critical and sarcastic, I start sending people encouraging
emails, and my strength is renewed.
Jesus tells us that He will renew our strength. For Him to renew it, we
must first have it. We must make a heart commitment, not a head and
verbal commitment, but a heart commitment to Jesus and invite Him into
our hearts to be our personal Saviour. The amount of our happiness
depends on how much we love Him and how much of our lives we give Him.
If we only give Him a couple of hours a day, then we will only have a
couple of hours of happiness.
Jesus served God every hour of the day. The reason why Jesus was able
keep going despite all the ridicule, criticism, sarcasm, abuse,
loneliness, heartache and scorn is because He always reached out and
encouraged and comforted people. He not only gave His life on the cross;
He spent every minute telling and proving to people that He Loved them.
You may think that there is nothing you can do for Jesus, but every one
of us can smile and love people to Him by our words and by our actions.
